We would like to introduce a case study of the processing of balance shafts for automotive engines that we conducted. The product underwent intermittent cutting processing on the outer diameter using a lathe. Generally, lathe processing is performed with continuous cutting, but in the case of intermittent cutting, the tool is pressed against the material intermittently, making it prone to chipping and vibration, which increases the difficulty of maintaining stable processing accuracy.
